Moving FAQs – What You Need To Know

Moving is something that most people only do a few times throughout their lifetimes. It’s a major life event, with a lot of change happening, and often a chaotic time trying to plan and organise everything.

This leads to a lot of questions people have about the moving process.

At Optimove, we’ve got you covered, and have compiled a list of the most common moving FAQs we receive about what you need to know before you move, and on moving day.

Do you provide fixed quotes? How long are they valid for?

Certainly! You can either call Optimove on 1300 400 874 or submit our quote form – we will either provide you with a quote or arrange to send someone to inspect your home/office. All fixed price quotes are valid for 30 days from the quote date.

Do you Provide a Furniture Disassembly and Packing Service?

Absolutely. We have a specialised packing/unpacking and furniture disassembly team. Just let us know what needs packing, and we can do this for you, either in advance or on moving day – so that you don’t need to sleep on a mattress on the floor the night before your move!

Do you do removals on weekends or after hours?

Yes! We understand everyone has different schedules, and can’t always take time off work just to move. This is why we are available 24/7 and 365 days per year – even on public holidays!

It’s common for most local moves to occur on the weekend, and we usually do office moves after hours or on weekends to minimise disruption. Whenever you need to move, we are here to help!

Do you provide free moving boxes?

We provide free boxes for any local Brisbane and Gold Coast moves. For interstate moves, we offer half price boxes.

Please note: We ask for a $5 fully refundable deposit per box, which is refunded after you return the boxes to us in good condition within 30 days.

Are My Belongings Insured During Moving?

For all of our removals, your goods are covered by public liability and goods in transit insurance. We also include comprehensive insurance for premium interstate moves.

If you are moving locally or to the country, we can also include comprehensive insurance as an optional extra – speak to one of our teams to find out more.

Are My Delicate and Valuable Items safe while being moved?

All Optimove movers are professional employees who are expertly trained in handling delicate and fragile items. We carefully move your most treasured and sentimental items and treat them as if they were our own.

If you want us to pack them for you, we can individually wrap each item using industrial strength bubble wrap for extra protection. We then place your items either wrapped in felt blankets and securely fasten them in the moving truck, or put them in a sturdy box depending on their size.
